Fungi, Ferns, Moth | 8"x10" | Southern Appalachia Temperate Rainforest
$24.99
Resilience • Biodiversity • Interconnection
Southern Appalachia is deeply personal to me, not only because it is where I grew up, but because these ancient mountains hold an undeniable sense of wonder, history, and connection. The region’s dense forests support one of the most biodiverse temperate rainforest ecosystems in the world, giving life to countless species of plants, fungi, insects, and wildlife.
Featured here are:
- Wood Ferns
- Black Trumpets
- Morels
- Chantarelles
- Io Moth
Together, these species tell the story of a healthy Appalachian forest, where life flourishes through relationships both seen and unseen. Fungi recycle nutrients, ferns shelter the forest floor, and moths support the intricate web of pollination and wildlife. These ancient mountains are among the most biodiverse temperate forests on Earth, quietly providing clean water, carbon storage, and habitat for thousands of species. This piece serves as a reminder that even the smallest organisms help sustain the resilience of the whole.
I hope the pieces in this collection inspires greater awareness and appreciation for these ecosystems and reminds us of the importance of protecting and nurturing the landscapes that sustain so much life.

Raven and American Chestnut Tree | 8"x10" | Southern Appalachia Temperate Rainforest
- Raven
- American Chestnut Tree
The American chestnut (Castanea dentata) once shaped the forests of eastern North America, providing abundant food and shelter for wildlife and a valuable resource for generations of people. After chestnut blight nearly erased the species from the landscape in the early 1900s, surviving trees became symbols of resilience and restoration. Today, ongoing conservation efforts seek to return this once-dominant tree to the forests it helped sustain. I paired with a raven simply because I had a dream of the two!
I hope the pieces in this collection inspires greater awareness and appreciation for these ecosystems and reminds us of the importance of protecting and nurturing the landscapes that sustain so much life.
