Southern Appalachia is deeply personal to me, not only because it is where I grew up, but because these ancient mountains hold an undeniable sense of wonder, history, and connection. The region’s dense forests support one of the most biodiverse temperate rainforest ecosystems in the world, giving life to countless species of plants, fungi, insects, and wildlife.
Part of the Appalachia Collection, this piece brings together the American black bear with serviceberries, blackberries, wood sorrel, dandelion, and sumac to celebrate the abundance of the Appalachian food forest. From berries and tender greens to the wildlife that forage among them, these species reflect a landscape where food grows across many layers and connects countless forms of life.
